Financial Ombudsman receives 2000 PPI Complaints a DAY!

The Financial Ombudsman has reported that they are still recieving around 2000 PPI complaints per day. There has been a decrease in the number of PPI complaints made in 2013 vs the same period in 2012, but 2000 PPI complaints per day is still a significant number of complaints to be processed.

In June we reported on the FOS having to hire more staff to deal with PPI complaints, this recruitment drive should end in October this year, which will double it workforce dealing with PPI complaints.

Mis-sold PPI see’s FOS hiring more staff

A report this afternoon alledges that the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is considering hiring even more staff to deal with PPI complaints from PPI mis selling, this is despite its pledge to double its workforce this year.

Money Saving Expert with tips on PPI mis selling

We came across a wonderful interview from Martin Lewis aka the Money Saving Expert on tips about PPI mis selling. We are bombarded with TV ads for PPI mis selling and telephone calls for PPI claims, but what does it all mean? Martin Lewis, the Money Saving Expert helps to explain the facts.

Maple leaf financial is a claims management company, NO we don’t cold call or create any mis leading TV ads, we are open and honest. Hey, when we get home we also have to put up with those anoying calls and TV ads and if you read our blog you will see us complaining as loudly as the next person.

PPI Complaints Mis-Handled, Lloyds Banks Admits

Lloyds recently announced that one of its centres specialsing in handling PPI complaints has produced obvious shortcomings. The announcement comes on the heels of discovering that a Times reporter went undercover at one of the bank’s notorious complaints handling centres.

The Times reporter claims he was told to “play the system” and that he was taught to ignore any complaints of possible fraud committed by salesmen of the banking giant. Furthermore, the reporter added that he was told that the complaint handler position can be “morally difficult” and that he should ignore any fraud red flags.

Claiming PPI in IVA, Getting the Facts Right

Whether you have completed your IVA or you are still in your IVA, making a mis-sold PPI claim is still possible. However, there are differences between the two situations. In one situation, you will be able to keep the compensation you receive from a successful claim. In the other situation, this simply is not possible.

Other concerns also arise when filing a PPI claim. For example, your bank may attempt to use the unrealised asset rule or the offset rule in an effort to keep your compensation once your IVA is finished. Therefore, it is crucial that you understand all of the facts and your chances of success before making a claim.

Only 1 in 10 have made a PPI claim

The growing number of mis-sold bank products to consumers is creating quite a concern, and the incessant problem is not being overlooked any longer. As bank customers become increasingly aware of the tactics used by banks to increase their profits, more and more are turning to the Financial Ombudsman Service for the help they need, which is putting the misdeeds of banks into the public eye.

PPI Claims Service FAQ’s

What can I claim PPI on?

You can claim on PPI – Single Premium Policies. This type of policy is paid for in full and upfront to the insurance company at the beginning of the policy. Most loan companies will finance the full cost of the policy by adding the cost onto your loan. They forget to tell you that you will also be paying interest on that amount at the loan interest rate for the full term of the loan. You can also claim on the monthly PPI premiums that have been added to your credit card.

Have I been Mis-Sold PPI?

Many PPI claims are rejected due to exclusions that may not have been fully explained to you at the time of purchase. Many people who have current medical conditions will be excluded from cover. Self employed, short term contracts and people of certain age limits will also not be covered under many policies. In these circumstances these policies should not have been sold as the insurance is inappropriate to the borrowers’ wants and needs. Some policies are so full of exceptions or exclusions that borrowers are often unable to make a claim if the worst does happen. Many policies sold to protect the lender simply won’t perform when asked to at point of claim and in not doing so just makes large profits for the providers, leaving vulnerable borrowers without protection and further in debt having paid out for expensive PPI premiums.

What compensation will I receive?

Our primary goal is to return to you money that is rightfully yours and to reduce your outgoings. Your claim will typically result in the recovery of the WHOLE of the PPI premium that has been added to your loan, PLUS the interest, PLUS in some cases statutory interest.
